DIY – Finger Painting on Canvas

My little man and I decided that we would do some art projects and one of the first things on the list is canvas finger painting. We live in a small town so art stores are nonexistent and options are limited.

I was however pleasantly surprised with the options at the local Crazy Store. They had various canvases, paints, brushes and other interesting paint gadgets all for under R100.

Equipment and how to guide:

  • Small cellotape or masking tape
  • Finger paint (they non toxic abs wash off easily and thankfully don’t stain)
  • Paper plate

We opted to place cellotape across the edges and in the centre but the possibilities are endless for it.

Put drops of paint on the paper plate, this makes it easier for little fingers and all the messing.

Now let them get creative and messy on the canvas using their hands and the various colors. I found that my son enjoyed the squishy mess.

Let the canvas dry (while the cleaning happens) and once dry remove the cellotape and insert the canvas hooks (to hang).

They make really great gifts too and he loves showing people his work!
